Salem, MA Festival of the Dead Events Announced!
shadowcouncil:
As much as people may not enjoy the tourism of Salem, especially during the Samhain season, there are some interesting things that are done. I will post the pamphlet descriptions, and since I have taken 10/25/12 to 11/1/12 off, I will be going to most of these events. I am aware that it’s just June, but some people may need time to plan ahead…

lesyeuxsansvinsage asked: can you explain to me what witchcraft really is? i want to know what a witch is. The media has really stereotyped a lot of people.
lusttodust asked: When I was around 15 someone I knew who was deeply into the Wiccan/Pagan arts put a protection blessing on a necklace and gave it to me right after I went through a traumatic experience and I believe it has protected me and kept me safe since. I have never taken it off, but I'd like to know if it will ever run out? I don't know if this even makes sense.. Sorry!

parting-the-mists asked: Hello! My best friend just had a very nasty breakup from a very long relationship. To give her closure I suggested to ritually burn a picture of him. Now, I was wondering if there's herbs or plants or such that we can burn along with the picture to help her healing process. Obviously, I don't want to harm her ex so I'm very cautious of what herbs etc. to use. Thank you in advance...
i-kinda-hate-me-too asked: Hi, my name is Riley and recently I have been told that I am an empath. I always had the talents and a lot makes sense now but I'm struggling with my identity. Originally I was agnostic and I have always searched for my religious identity. However Im finding it hard to distinguish between pagan and wicca and what they mean. I would really love this to be my path but I need some guidance....

Witch's Whisks
witchcraft5ever:
A Witch’s Whisk: A smudge wand made from blackberry twigs. The twigs at the unbound end are sprayed out making it look like a whisk. Used to cleanse a space, object or person, and to banish unhelpful influences.

elsapearl asked: Hi :) I was hoping for a little guidance. I went through a light phase of witchcraft when i was younger, but it wasn't any thing serious. My mum bought me some good witch bad witch cards and that was it. I'm a very spiritual person and had been thinking about buying some Tarot cards but as i researched, Wicca and Witchcraft sparked my interest again. I'd really like to start...

silverwitch:
When buying Tarot Cards, Take your Time. Do not be rushed into buying the newest or the brightest coloured ones Unless they are what you are truly drawn to, try to get the feel of them a lot of shops have sample decks open you can have a closer look at even handle in some cases, look at the art work and their size ( you have to be able to handle them comfortably...
reclusivefemale asked: Do you know of any substitutions for a mix of dried meadowsweet and powdered oak bark? It was meant to be used for burning on a self-igniting charcoal (so that would be like a resin, right?), but I would prefer stick incense. Any ideas?
somethingoutofbelief asked: Could you direct me to either a really good site or really good blog for Wiccan beginngers in the Craft
Morning Prayer.
veilofthefae:
“O Gracious Goddess,
O Gracious God,
Lend me health, strength, and love
During this coming day.
Assist me with challenges ahead.
Share Your divine wisdom.
Teach me to respect all things.
Remind me that the greatest power of all is love.
Blessed be.”
Night Prayer.
veilofthefae:
“O Gracious Goddess,
O Gracious God,
I now enter the realm of dreams.
Weave now, if You will, a web of protective light around me.
Guard both my sleeping form and my spirit.
Watch over me
Until the sun once again
Rules the Earth.
O Gracious Goddess,
O Gracious God,
Be with me through the night.
Blessed be.”

theearthlistens asked: Hello! I was wondering what books I can start reading about Paganism? I have some books that are directed specifically toward Wicca or Green Craft, but I'm trying to build my knowledge of Paganism and Pagan beliefs. Thank you!
reclusivefemale asked: I have a ceramic (glazed) dish/bowl and I was wondering if anyone knew if it was okay to burn items in it? Not necessarily in place of a cauldron, but for spells/rituals that say to put pieces of burning items into a fireproof dish to let it finish burning or smoldering, or even to fill with sand or salt to burn cone incense or other similar things. I think it would be okay considering ceramics...

Dream Vision
Two nights ago I had this dream that me and a friend of mine were coming back from camping and were checking out this little shop. It was white, had silver hanging beads in the entrance, and the parking lot of full of old vintage stuff on racks and tables. I remembered reading the sign above the store and it had an interesting font but I didn’t remember it was called.
Today she tells me she...

bloodengine asked: This isn't a question. Its a compliment, I absolutely love your Book of Shadows, the letters that you do on the top are so pretty!! Someday I'll do that as well. Also, might you have any tips for someone that is going to start writing their own Book of Shadows/Grimoire?
Beginner Books for Witchcraft not concerning...
Earlier there was a post regarding an inquiry about a list of books to start reading if you are new to the craft.
If you are just starting out in the craft, read several books from different places. Ann Moura’s books on Witchcraft provide you with her own way of doing things. Just as I now have my own way. This is a wonderful place to start, as long as you keep in mind many witches will...

In the past I've used Cedar, Birch, Hemlock(I know it's toxic) and Holy Thistle, but as of lately I wanted to maybe change it up and see if there were better ways/newer ways to cleanse myself. any tips? Also I love your site I read it at least once a day and read through your old post

snoweknight asked: So, I keep reading about how calling on faeries are so good for the garden and good for pulling in positive energy. However, I can not even fathom the thought of doing so. When I think of faeries, yes I think of good ones, but I also think of bad ones. And in my opinion no faerie is good or bad... while they have inclinations to lean toward one or the other, I honestly believe faeries could...
